It’s pouring rain and I’m just lying here doing nothing which is awesome.
I’m visiting my parents today before they leave town again. They’re busybodies who are dealing with poop-storm of legal problems related to a property that a dead relative left behind... A gross misuse of time for my parent s’ golden years, but they’re adults and I couldn’t talk them out of this endeavor.
Uhhh otherwise things kind of suck because 2020, but I have a roof over my head, an income, a wife, and doggo — so it could be worse!

I’m also visiting my parents, fixing up an old Jeep with Dad, enjoying paid vacation for the first time ever, and gearing up for winter by replacing all the brakes on the old Volvo, which will be my designated winter car.
Got a sweet V8, RWD, manual sports car, a bigly pickup truck, a winter beater, a small fleet of motorcycles, they’re all running/driving/legal for road use, a job that gives me paid vacation and good health insurance, a girlfriend who supports my automotive hobby, and a refinanced mortgage for under 3% interest and half the loan term I had just six months ago . I have far more than most so i am very thankful heading into the autumn season of this year which has fucked so many.

I’m working as a course martial for the IMSA race at Charlotte. They assigned as an observer and radio operator in the start finish stand with the flaggers. It does not suck. I’m watching the NASCAR Xfiniti race in the stands right now. Not a bad day.

Not too bad. Just got back from tile shopping for my fireplace hearth (have a couple strong contender samples), stopped to look at couches on the way back since that’s on the short list as well. Why are they all so hard these day? I sat on several which might as well have been a park bench. They also had some which were literally longer than my living room by several inches.
Have a couple work trips coming up, will be flying 4 times this month which is always “fun”, though at least there haven’t been many lines at airports the last few months. Still working from home for the most part, when I’m not flying all over the country.
The cars are good. I’m in the fall stages of trying to enjoy them before it gets too cold and eventually snowy to want to leave the house. Today is much warmer than it has been which is nice for top-down driving (though I’ve had it down when it’s 50 outside and it wasn’t too bad with the heat on). Still mentally preparing to tear into the Chevelle’s quarter panels this winter to finish de-rusting.
As the song goes - I can’t complain but sometimes I still do.

Last weekend’s travel to Wichita (included an Oppo mini-meet with Jake and Bman76, they’re neat guys) has me working from home for another week, which makes the doggo happy. It gives me lots of time to go in the garage and look longingly at my bicycles I can’t yet ride after almost making it down a flight of steps on the drop bar bike and (very slightly) breaking my arm a couple of weeks ago . Otherwise, I’m doing good.

Having family and a job is a good thing in this crazy world.
I drove 600 miles today in my Mustang Gt and averaged 26mpg. Not bad, not bad.

I’m wishing garage doors had “your teenager is an idiot” sensors in addition to the anticrush the little kiddo sensors. I told my son to put away a 2x4 by putting it in the corner behind the garage door track. Instead he leaned it against the workbench under the garage door. Then tried to close it which got the board caught by the stiffening bar at the top of the door, bent that section upwards, and knocked the wheel truck off.
Half an hour of time with a dead blow hammer, using the same 2x4 to pry the door back into the right shape, and miraculously few cuss words it opens and shuts again with only minor wrinkling visible on the outside.

Thanksgiving dinner with my parents today, and with my girlfriend’s parents tomorrow, which is nice.
Bought a dehumidifier yesterday because we discovered mildew on the back of our couch, and in the back of two closets....its tank got
1/4 full in 12 hours.
I get to go into work today because we’re too busy to get everything finished within the week, even doing 10/11 hour days.
I too can’t complain because I have an income and a roof over my head, but I still
can’t help wanting a higher,
less exhausting
income and
to not live in a basement suite.

I’m doing good! Had a productive day yesterday filming stuff, which I didn’t have to do , though I’m having a much less productive day today, putting off things I kind of need to do .
Also, I’m cat sitting! I’d take a photo but she’s on my lap and I don’t have my phone.
